CARPS toposphere | 2015 | experimental | 4 min
Leaning over a carp pond, a child exclaims to another: "Look at the fish! They're gasping for air."
Inspired by a long flight returning from South America to Singapore - a trip that lasts almost two days, Carps provokes a brief sensory dislocation. It inhabits a fictitious non-place in suspension between worlds, where it is clear neither where we are coming from nor where we are headed.
Based on quantum physics' string theory, a shallow pond becomes a metaphor for our world populated by human/fish, swimming right, left, to the front and to the back, only able to transgress boundaries and access other dimensions, universes and cultures through our imagination.
"Carps" is at once Aimé Césaire, M-Theory, Marc Augé, lost and found memories of sounds, people, things, uprootedness and the colour pink...
